THE ARAB WARRIORS - IMAGES FROM THE MID 19TH TO MID 20TH CENTURY
INTRO:
Before the modern mediated images of international terrorism, suicide bombers and airplane hijackers , much like pre 1950s there was this wonderful, romanticized image about the Arab men as being not just fierce warriors but greatest horsemen, with steeds like no other, living in total freedom of the deserts with an exotic look, attitude and philosophy in life almost utopic concept of absolute liberty in reminding in a similar manner to the image of the American Indian.
Sheiks, emirs, calyphs were emblematic images of their leadership.
I ask the ones who have it, to put aside any preconcepted rage towards any sad, modern events and enjoy these images.
They come from where I, personally, therefore arguably, think the Arab world is: North East Africa, Arabian Peninsula or Zanzibar. Arguable could be at times the portraits from these pictures like the showmen from Chicago or Lawrence of Arabia but I consider them authentic and historical, worthy of posting.
Please drop a line or feel free to discuss them but refrain on any modern related vicious political or religious issues regardless whomever`s side you might be on, please don`t !
Important note: To the my best knowledge, I had the images accompanied by their original title, year of make and authors (original photographer or collection custodian).
